About
HOW
we turn empathy into imperfect action
Step #1
Listen, Learn & ask
It’s impossible to know everything about everyone or every situation. And there’s no shame in feeling like you have a long way to go. But if we all take steps to meet each other in the middle, it will be much easier.
Step #2.
Follow, support & apply
Change doesn’t happen overnight. Our hearts and minds aren’t wired that way. Taking incremental steps consistently to increase your self awareness and knowledge of others and ultimately yourself is the key to making progress.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS & THANKS
Thank you to all the incredible people who volunteered their time to be interviewed and for sharing their stories, insights and learnings with the hope it may serve to help others in some way. Thank you also to my wonderful friends and network who helped ensure the content was as inclusive and balanced as it can be for a human.
I want to recognize that the content on this site is influenced by my own biases, life experiences and knowledge gaps. Although I am blessed with diverse friendship groups and privileged enough to have experienced many cultures in different parts of the world, it will always only be the tip of the iceberg. If I’ve have missed anything or got it wrong, particularly from groups I am still learning to be a better ally to, please reach out and let me know so I can learn and do better.
All Of The Above is simply my effort to help as many people make a start on their own journey of discovery, unlearning and self inquiry. So that we can move forward together with compassion and empathy for another towards what we all want, a world where we all belong.
Thank you to my brother, Justin, who shaped this with me to bring it to life. And the biggest thank you of all to my Mum and Dad who like so many other migrant parents made so many sacrifices that allowed me to be someone that is now lucky enough to be able to help others.
I moved to Australia when I was 4 years old and ever since I have always been fascinated to understand the subtexts and nuances of the world and its people to work out where I fit in and how I could help. In some ways, I will always be that 4 year old. - Jenn Chin
